Cherwell Safer Communities Partnership
Domestic Violence Action Group
Domestic abuse is a pattern of abusive and controlling behaviour. Your partner, ex-partner or family member may want to control every aspect of your life, from where you go, who you see and what you spend. It affects all types of gender, age, religious belief, sexual orientation, race and disability.
The Government defines domestic violence as "Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse, (whether it be psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between two adults who are or have been, intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality.
Cherwell District Council has a Domestic Violence Action Plan designed to reduce instances of domestic violence and abuse.
The full details of this action plan can be read by clicking here. (pdf 57KB), or on the link on the left of the page.
Oxfordshire has a dedicated website for those affected by domestic abuse, www.reducingtherisk.org.uk which offers information, support and advice along with helpline numbers, some of which are staffed round the clock.
